September Chapter Meeting - Intrusion Preparedness and Response

Updated Tuesday, September 8, 2009

Occurrences of a malware breech happen every day and a companies' worst fears are unfortunately realized; blocked Internet access, files are corrupted, or sensitive data is stolen. An effective way to mitigate or rid a majority of vulnerabilities is to prioritize best practices that have the biggest impact and minimal cost. In addition, it is important to understand the importance of including law enforcement in the incident response should a breech occur. Our guest keynote speaker, Special Agent Davey Ware of the FBI will be covering the following topics:

  • Topic Overview
  • Identifying external threats and how to protect against them
  • Identifying internal threats and how to protect against them
  • Incident Response (internal and law enforcement)
  • Case Studies
  • Conclusion/Questions

As technology constantly changes and our budget dollars are being stretched, it is critical that everyone within the organization understand the importance and issues surrounding this topic. Please feel free to invite the CIO, CFO or any technology decision maker from your organization who will benefit from this presentation.

Guest Speaker: Davey Ware is a Special Agent on the Cyber Squad, FBI El Paso Division who investigates computer intrusions. Prior to his FBI career, SA Ware worked as a data network supervisor for a telecommunication company and as an information security consultant with 11 years of IT experience.
